I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
Julianne Bartlett is a brilliant young attorney setting out to start her own law firm with her best friend-and virtually constant companion- Will Hanes. She has also been waiting for her Prince Charming to gallop in on his white steed ever since her mother read her the Cinderella story when she was a little girl. But, Will rode in on a 10-speed bike while they were still in grade school, and who meets the perfect guy right in the middle of the cul-de-sac?
One dreadful rainy day, on the way to her new office, Julianne narrowly escapes a car collision and screeches to halt when a gorgeous Prince Charming gets out in the middle of a busy intersection to save a dog and drives off, leaving a toolbox and work boot on the side of the road. The second she sees this mysterious prince she is instantly in love and is determined to find him again. But how far will she go to capture the attention of a man, who becomes less and less charming all the time, because of what everyone else is saying about her? And will Will ever get the courage to tell Julianne how much he loves her and risk their friendship if it fails?
If the Shoe Fits is quite the enjoyable read. With plenty of funny scenes and entertaining characters, this book is sure to have the readers laughing out loud!
Julianne’s personality is a great one to model, as she is always looking for the good in every situation, even when some of the worst circumstances hit her. Will and Julianne have their ups and downs, like all best friends do, and though it is predictable as to how their story will end, it is a lot of fun reading how they get there.
This book also shows how peer-pressure can really affect someone. Julianne was so scared of what everyone else thought of her at an important ceremony, that she would rather pay more money and lie to people than just be herself with her friend and in the end, she caused herself more embarrassment by trying to please everyone else.
Filled with great moral lessons, entertaining scenes, and encouraging characters, If the Shoe Fits would be a fabulous beach read for the summer or just a good book to lighten the mood. I give it a full 5 out of 5 stars.
